Last season, we started a conversation about creating a world where design works for everyone. And now we're back. Join us in Season 2 of Made for Us, as we hear from leaders and innovators reimagining how products are designed, and from the people whose lives they've transformed.
Kevin Yoo:There's a nice to have yacht design that makes people, like, 10 percent happier. And there is, like, impactful humanitarian design that would literally 180 degrees change someone's life. And this is what we're doing.
Marcus Engel:I was a little bit flabbergasted by the fact that maybe there's going to be a new device out there that's not GPS, that is not a white cane, and that is not a guide dog that could help blind people get around.
Lucy Edwards:The makeup world wouldn't have been accessible to me unless I had a sighted sister who audio described hours and hours of makeup tutorials to me. So how am I going to be someone else's big sister? And how am I going to make this world accessible to them?
Host:And with the help of authors, advocates, and other experts, we'll dive right into some big questions, like this one: Will AI bring us closer to a more equitable world or take us further away?
Layal Liverpool:It has a lot of power to kind of revolutionize medicine, but I think we need to be really cautious because all of the racial bias we see in society, but you know, particularly in medicine and healthcare, that risks becoming embedded into algorithms and essentially being automated in the worst case.
Rikki Singh:The good thing about models is they don't have judgment. They represent what is fed into them. And so they make our biases very apparent. And I think that has helped because when the problem is apparent, we as humans have a tendency to solve them right away.
Host:I'm Tosin Sulaiman, award- winning host of Made for Us. Subscribe to the podcast now and be the first to hear about season two. Coming soon, wherever you listen to podcasts.
